Introducing WebMail 5 – Now mobile responsive

Email

We are excited to announce an upgrade to our WebMail that will make staying in touch a whole lot easier.

Not only does our WebMail look much better than before, it also includes features to make email even easier to use and manage. Best of all, our WebMail is now mobile compatible so it looks and works great on smartphones. You still get all of this FREE with our email services, whether you have an Email Hosting plan with us, or free email with your domain name, Web Hosting, CloudSite, Office 365 or an Ecommerce package!

For WebMail 5 we’ve gone for a cleaner look without all the clutter making the interface much more user friendly. This update is rolling out over the next couple of months, but you can upgrade to it today at webmail.names.co.uk.

Previous versions of WebMail will be taken out of service on 20th January 2016.

So what can we tell you about some of WebMails’ features? Let’s take a look at the best bits:

  • Use webmail on your smart phone. You no longer need access to a computer when you’re away from your home and office, just reach for your phone and your emails are at your fingertips.
  • We’ve made everything you need in WebMail a few less clicks away.
  • You can set up standard responses, send them as they are or make a few simple changes to personalise your replies.
  • Sharing key information and documents just got easier, simply drag and drop attachments in to your messages.
  • Managing your emails couldn’t be simpler, create new folders to better organise the mail you receive, then simply drag and drop emails into those folders.
  • Manage your time effectively with your own calendar, plan your schedule and set handy reminders ahead of your meeting or events.
  • Find-as-you-type address book, begin typing your contacts name or email address and WebMail will do the rest.
  • Set up auto responders for when you know you’ll be unable to respond to your emails quickly. An auto responder is the perfect way to let everyone know that you’re unavailable, but that you’ll reply as soon as you can.
  • You can blacklist nuisance email addresses so you’ll stop receiving emails from senders you have no interest in.

As you can see, there are many features in webmail designed to help you communicate more efficiently and to free up more of your day. Managing your email and time just got a whole lot easier with WebMail 5.

Already a WebMail user? You can import your WebMail preferences, contact list, calendar etc from the older versions of WebMail to the new version. When you first log in to WebMail 5, your data is migrated from the version of WebMail you used most frequently in your last five logins but if you know you have data in another version that you’d also like to import, select ‘Settings’ in the top right hand corner of WebMail 5 and then ‘Data Migration’ as set out below:

Data Import

We have a whole host of new guides available for WebMail 5 at https://www.names.co.uk/support

  1. Webmail 5 is good on desktop but the mobile version is failure. When compared with OWA for example it just does not perform. I cannot see my folders nor can I see what is in them, and there is no facility to select and move or delete contents of the Inbox. Or am I doing something wrong? PS: OWA is so intuitive that I didn’t need any lessons on how to use it. Please help!

Hi Peter, our WebMail is based on open source software called Roundcube, one of the benefits of the latest version was its compatibility with mobile devices and although it is more responsive than previous versions of WebMail, ultimately we have not developed it and cannot vouch for its performance when compared to Outlook.

Email can be configured to be used with native mobile mail applications, a solution that may work better for you, we also offer Office365 products which would give you a seamless OWA experience too.

  2. My webmail is showing 74%. I don’t want it to ‘run out’ – how can I increase the capacity?

    With thanks

Hi Rachel, we can provide more email storage, I would recommend contacting our Sales team on 0345 3633632 and they can determine the most suitable package for your needs.

  3. We have four mailboxes with you. Is it possible for different users to have different Passwords that relate just to their box? If so how is it done? If there is only one Password into the system it is possible for all users to see what other users are saying.

Hi Mark, there is a single password for the administrator login to the account. If you have four mailboxes then each mailbox can have its own unique password and should have in order that the mailbox recipients mailbox contents are secure. The mailbox passwords are set by the individual that has administrator access to the overall account but the password can also be updated within WebMail, here are instructions on how to do this – https://www.names.co.uk/support/WebMail/2663-updating_your_email_password_in_webmail.html I hope that answers your question. ^Mike

  4. is it possible to immediately delete a sent email, when you realise you’ve made an error?

      Hi Eleanor

Great question! In short, no. I’ll expand:

Deleting the sent email in your email software or in WebMail will only delete your copy of the email which was sent and will not have any effect on whether the email is successfully sent to the email recipient.

Typically an email will be received by the recipient email server in less than a second and could only be deleted by someone with server access to the mail server the mail was sent to (which potentially has legal hurdles which would need to be overcome before such an action could be performed) or by someone with access to the mailbox which had received the email. I hope that helps?

  5. How do you add webmail to your iPhone accounts so that you can receive emails directly to your phone?

  6. I just got connected to webmail and it’s quite been interesting so far. What’s the correct incoming server and outgoing server address to enable me connect on my smartphone please. I have tried a few but it wont connect.

Hi I have an account with 5 mailboxes. I want to reassign one of the mailboxes from treasurer@ to Coach@. I think I need to delete the treasurer@ which will free up the mailbox within my plan, then I need to recreate the coach@?
Is there any way of exporting or saving the emails in the existing mailbox?

Do you have to pay for a SMTP or is there a free version?
