Over the last few weeks our staff have rallied around to show their support for two very worthy causes, the ‘Toys for Tots’ scheme and the Worcester Foodbank.
Together we were able to collect and donate a huge selection of non-perishable food items and new toys to help those most in need over the Christmas period.
The “Toys for Tots” scheme was set up by the Worcester Community Trust in collaboration with the H&W Chamber of Commerce and the Worcestershire Ambassadors. Each year, they ask local companies like ourselves to buy an extra gift each for disadvantaged children in Worcestershire. We place all our wrapped presents under the names.co.uk Christmas tree and they are given to families who may not have spare cash at this time of year.
The Worcester Foodbank is part of the Trussell Trust network of foodbanks. There are 428 all around the country and the service is heavily relied upon. Volunteers work tirelessly, especially in the run up to Christmas, to collect, organise and distribute food to people in the community who cannot afford it.
Between April and September 2016, Trussell Trust foodbanks across the UK distributed 519,342 three day emergency food supplies to people in crisis compared to 506,369 during the same period last year. 188,584 of these went to children.
We’d like to say a big thank you to all our staff who kindly donated and well done to all the volunteers who are working so hard to help those less fortunate. If you would like to find out more or get involved yourself, visit the Worcester Foodbank or see the ‘Toys for Tots’ scheme.
