Managed VPS Platform migration FAQ

What are the supported PHP versions on new AlmaLinux 8 server?
Alma Linux 8 with Plesk supports PHP 5.6 – 8.3+.

Will SSH access be able available on the new VPS?
SSH will not be available on Managed VPS platform as currently. If you require SSH access on a VPS we would suggest you look at our other brand, Simply.

Which version of MariaDB are supported in AlmaLinux 8?
Plesk 18 and Alma Linux 8 support MariaDB version 10.4 – 10.11.

Will I need to do anything my side after the migration completes and before the IP swap?
We suggest you check that your websites and emails are functioning as expected.

Does my server IP address change after migration?
Yes, The new VPS will have a different IP address to allow us to migrate the data from the existing VPS to the new platform VPS. Once the data has been migrated and checked we can then move the original IP to the new platform (You wouldn’t need to change your DNS).

Will there be any downtime during the migration?
There will be no downtime during the migration process, however we would require a small amount of the downtime to swap the IP address over (10-20 mins).

Do I need to backup the server before the migration process starts?
The migration process will not affect the data on the current VPS as it is just a data copy. We’ll be performing this in the background, so your VPS will be online the whole time but you may notice a slight performance drop during the process.

What times are available for CentOS7 to AlmaLinux 8 IP address move?
The times we have available are Mon to Thurs, 6am until 4.30pm, or Mon to Thurs 7.00pm until 10.00pm. Any requests outside of these times would be chargeable at a pre-paid premium by prearrangement.

If you have any further questions that are not covered here, please login to your online control panel and update the migration enquiry that we will have created for you.
